DERMATOPATHOLOGY

Diagnosing your skin tissue is not another automated laboratory test. Our dermatopathologists provide a personal, consultative service, which includes analyzing medical information in conjunction with observations through the microscope. The ultimate goal is to provide the best possible patient care in partnership with the physician.

Dermatopathology cases may include melanoma, and other skin disorders; immunologic, infectious and pediatric diseases. It’s a subspecialty of pathology for the skin. Because this is a highly specialized field of medicine, a dermatopathologist should be the diagnostician of choice when a physician suspects various skin diseases.

Conditions We Test For:

  • Bullous Disorders
  • Epithelial Tumors Including Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma
  • Infectious Diseases Affecting the Skin
  • Inflammatory Skin Diseases
  • Malignant Melanoma
  • Melanocytic Lesions Including Ordinary Nevi and Dysplastic (Atypical) Nevi

Types of Testing We Do:

  • Consultation (second opinion) on Outside Pathology Slides
  • Direct Immunofluorescence Testing Routine and Histochemical / Immunohistochemical Staining
